PROCEDURE

To inspect the belt, turn the engine over by hand several times.

This is the only way to see all surfaces of the belt. Often there is only one deep tear in the belt, which may be located exactly on a pulley during inspection.

A torn or frayed belt must be replaced as soon as possible.
