Replacing the Central Junction Box

~1min read

If troubleshooting shows that the cable routing, the corresponding fuse, or the relay are undamaged, the cause of the fault may be the central junction box. Typical faults are loose contacts or temperature-related failures. In this case, the central junction box must be replaced.

PROCEDURE

Be sure to obtain the correct version of the central junction box as the replacement part.

Open the cover and disconnect the hinges.

Press the retaining clips on the right and left of the insert element – the central junction box proper – and pull out the insert element with the connected wires.

Transfer the connectors one by one from the old unit to the new unit.

Reinstall the insert element into the frame.

Remove the shelf on the left under the instrument panel and check that all wires have been transferred.

Note: the central junction box cover must be closed, otherwise drafts will blow onto the driver's legs while driving.
