Central Junction Box

The central junction box on the Audi 80 is located under the windshield in a waterproof housing. It can accommodate up to 31 fuses (one more if the vehicle has a diesel engine), four spare fuses, and a total of eleven relays. In addition, there is a plug connection for connecting the diagnostic tester.

1 – relay for fog lights and rear side marker lights, jumper if the vehicle is not equipped with fog lights;
2 – cooling fan relay (models without air conditioning), relay for the second cooling fan;
3 – control unit for cooling fan operation after engine shutdown;
4 – headlight cleaning system control unit;
5 – X-contact load relief relay.

6 – fan relay (models with manual air conditioning), second cooling fan relay (models with automatic air conditioning and certain engine versions);
7 – horn relay;
8 – alarm system relay (models with manual transmission), jumper on models not equipped with an alarm system. On models with automatic transmission, this position remains empty;
9 – intermittent wiper/washer relay;
10 – fuel pump relay;
11 – first cooling fan relay.

All wires on the Audi 80 are gathered into various harnesses. They all terminate in the so-called central junction box, a black box located at the rear left of the engine compartment in a waterproof housing. It can accommodate 21 fuses, ten additional fuses, four spare fuses, and a number of relays.
