Cylinder Position (CYP) Sensor Inspection and Replacement

~1min read

INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. The CYP sensor determines the current position of the pistons. The information it provides is used to determine the fuel injection sequence. The sensor is integrated into the ignition distributor assembly; its failure will store trouble codes P1381 and P1382 in the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system memory.

2. Для проверки исправности функционирования датчика CYP рассоедините жгут электропроводки

2. To check the operation of the CYP sensor, disconnect the distributor wiring harness and use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance between terminals 3 and 4. Compare the measurement result with the Specifications.

3. Make sure there is no continuity between each of the terminals and ground.
4. If the results of the above check are negative, replace the distributor (refer to Engine Electrical Section).

REPLACEMENT

PROCEDURE

The CYP sensor is built into the ignition distributor assembly and is not available as a separate replacement part. If the sensor fails, replace the distributor (refer to Engine Electrical Section).
