Knock Sensor Replacement
PROCEDURE
Before starting the procedure, wait until the engine has completely cooled down.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
If the vehicle's audio system is equipped with an anti-theft code, make sure you have the correct code to reactivate the audio system before disconnecting the battery!

2. The knock sensor is screwed into the coolant passage of the engine block, and removing it results in a certain loss of coolant. To avoid this, drain the block in advance (refer to Maintenance and Tune-Up section). Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the sensor from the engine.
3. New sensors are usually supplied with a thread coated with anti-seize sealant. Install the replacement sensor in its original position and tighten it to the specified torque (approximately 19 N·m).
Overtightening the knock sensor may cause permanent damage to the sensor. Reconnect the sensor wiring and refill the cooling system (refer to Maintenance and Tune-Up section). Check the engine for signs of coolant leaks.
