Seat Belt System Description

Your vehicle is equipped with three-point seat belt assemblies for the driver and all passengers. The front seats are also equipped with automatic seat belt pretensioners.

The seat belt system uses a visual indicator on the instrument panel and an audible signal to remind you to fasten your seat belts.

The system continuously monitors the status of all seat belts (fastened or unfastened).

When the ignition switch is turned to the ON (II) position with the driver's seat belt unfastened, a warning chime sounds and the indicator flashes. If the belt is not fastened before the chime stops, the indicator stops flashing but remains on.

If the front passenger does not fasten the seat belt, the indicator comes on approximately 6 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the ON (II) position.

If the driver's or front passenger's seat belt is not fastened while the vehicle is moving, the indicator flashing and the chime will repeat periodically.

If the front passenger seat is unoccupied or occupied by a small child, the indicator does not come on and the chime does not sound.

If the driver's seat belt is not fastened, the multi-information display shows the icon "
" or the message "FASTEN SEAT BELT"; if the front passenger's seat belt is not fastened, the multi-information display shows the icon "
" or the message "PASSENGER FASTEN SEAT BELT".

The system detects whether the buckle of any rear seat belt is fastened. You can check which belts are in use on the multi-information display (see page 98).

The front passenger seat occupancy sensor system may not operate correctly or may malfunction in the following cases:

A heavy object is placed on the front passenger seat.

The passenger is sitting on a cushion placed on the front seat.

The front passenger is not sitting in the correct position on the seat.

If the front seat is unoccupied but the indicator or chime still operates, have the system inspected and repaired by a Honda dealer.
