Three-Point Seat Belt

The three-point seat belt restrains the hips with the lap portion and crosses the chest diagonally over the shoulder with the shoulder portion.

To fasten the seat belt, insert the tongue into the buckle, then pull on the belt webbing to make sure the tongue is securely latched in the buckle (see page 17 for correct seat belt positioning).

To unfasten the seat belt, press the red button marked PRESS on the buckle.

Pass the belt across your body. The retractor will take up the belt slack. After exiting the vehicle, make sure the belt is not caught in the door opening and was not pinched when the door was closed.

Each shoulder belt is equipped with a retractor. The retractor allows the occupant to move freely and change position on the seat with little restriction. In a collision or sudden braking, the retractor automatically locks the belt, holding the occupant's body against dangerous movement.

The three-point seat belts installed at all rear seating positions are equipped with an additional locking clip to securely hold special child restraint systems (see page 52).

When the shoulder belt is pulled out to its full length, the retractor locks. The belt will rewind onto the retractor, preventing any dangerous movement of the occupant.

To unlock the retractor, remove the tongue from the buckle and allow the belt to rewind automatically onto the retractor.

If necessary, pull the belt out to the required length and readjust its position.
