Airbag Maintenance

~1min read

The airbags and seat belt pretensioners require virtually no maintenance, and any repair of these system components by the owner is prohibited. However, see your dealer for service in the following cases:

After any airbag has deployed. Deployed airbags must be replaced together with the control unit and other SRS components. The seat belt pretensioners must also be replaced at the same time.

Do not attempt to remove or replace a deployed airbag yourself.

This work must be performed only by an authorized Honda dealer or other qualified technician.

If the SRS indicator shows a malfunction. Take the vehicle to a dealer service station immediately for inspection and possible repair. Otherwise, the airbags may fail to deploy in a collision and will not provide protection.

Only specially trained personnel may work on SRS components. Do not remove airbags or seat belt pretensioners from the vehicle yourself. If the system malfunctions or after the airbags and seat belt pretensioners have deployed, take the vehicle to a dealer service station for repair or replacement of system components.
