Transporting Children Requiring Increased Attention
Many parents prefer to place infants or young children in the front seats, explaining that this allows them to watch the children, or that children require increased attention from adults.
By placing children in the front seats, parents expose them to the risk associated with deployment of the frontal or side airbag and, in addition, a driver distracted by watching a child reacts less effectively to changes in road conditions, which creates an additional risk of a road traffic accident.
If a child requires constant physical support or visual contact, we strongly recommend that another adult passenger ride in the vehicle to sit in the back seat with the child.
Placing a child in the rear seat is much safer than placing them in the front seat.
