The seat belt must not touch or lie across the child's neck. Improper positioning of the belt across the neck may cause serious neck injury in a traffic accident.

The shoulder portion of the seat belt must not pass under the arm or behind the child's back. This may cause serious injury in an accident. In addition, this belt position increases the likelihood of the child slipping under the seat belt in a traffic accident.

Never use the same seat belt to restrain two people at the same time. Failure to follow this precaution may result in serious injury to these occupants in an accident.

Do not place any objects between the seat belt and the occupant. Installing additional items, such as pads to reduce pressure or to change the position of the shoulder belt, may reduce the effectiveness of the seat belts and increase the risk of injury in a vehicle accident.
