Daily Pre-Driving Inspection
The following mandatory checks must be performed daily before driving the vehicle.
1. Check the condition of the windows, outside rearview mirrors, headlight and taillight lenses, and signal lights, and clean them of dirt if necessary. In cold weather, remove frost, snow, or ice from the windows.
2. Make sure the hood is fully closed.
3. Make sure the cargo area door is fully closed.
4. Visually inspect the condition of the tires.
If the tires appear under-inflated, check the tire pressure with a pressure gauge.
5. Make sure that items carried in the passenger compartment are stowed in the proper compartments and pockets or securely fastened.
6. Check and, if necessary, adjust the seat position (see page 160).
7. Check that the interior and outside rearview mirrors are properly adjusted (see page 172).
8. Check and, if necessary, adjust the steering wheel position (see page 147).
9. Make sure all doors are securely closed.
10. Fasten your seat belt.
Make sure all passengers are also wearing their seat belts (see page 17).
11. Before starting the engine, check the gauges, indicators, and warning lights on the instrument panel (see page 72).
