When parking the vehicle, wait until it comes to a complete stop and apply the parking brake.

If the vehicle is stopped on an uphill grade, before switching off the engine make sure that the gear position indicator shows the symbol "A" or the number 1.

When stopping on a downhill grade, make sure that the R (Reverse) position is selected. Additional information is provided on page 337.
