Preparing to Tow a Trailer
Before starting a trip with a trailer, perform a pre-trip inspection and check the vehicle and trailer:
Perform daily inspection and maintenance of the vehicle: check the condition and pressure of the tires, as well as the operation of the brake system, suspension, engine cooling system, and lighting.
Make sure the trailer is prepared for the trip and is in good working condition.
Make sure that all load capacity ratings of the trailer are not exceeded.
Check that the trailer coupling, safety chains and other connections between the trailer and the vehicle are secure.
Securely fasten all cargo carried on the trailer to prevent it from shifting while driving.
Make sure that all exterior lights and brakes of both the trailer and the vehicle are working properly.
Check that the tire pressure of the vehicle and trailer tires (including the spare tire) matches the values recommended by the vehicle and trailer manufacturers.
Check the current traffic regulations regarding the maximum speed of a passenger vehicle towing a trailer. When planning a trip through several countries, find out in advance about local requirements and restrictions on towing a trailer with a passenger vehicle, as each country may have its own specific rules.
The speed limit for a vehicle and trailer combination is 100 km/h.
