The most reliable way to verify that the vehicle and trailer weights meet the requirements is to weigh them.

Load the vehicle and trailer as they are normally operated when towing, and weigh them on truck scales to determine the gross vehicle weight and gross trailer weight, as well as the weights on each axle of the vehicle and trailer and on the hitch.
