This light comes on when the ignition switch is turned to the ON (II) position and goes off after the engine starts. If the light comes on at any other time, it indicates a malfunction in the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system.

In this case, stop the vehicle in a safe place and turn off the engine.

Reset the system by restarting the engine. The light will remain on, but should go off after some time. If it does not go off, or goes off and then comes on again, have the power steering system inspected at a service center. Note that when the warning light is on, the power steering assist does not operate, so turning the steering wheel will require more effort.

If you turn the steering wheel fully to the right and then fully to the left several times while the vehicle is stationary or moving at low speed, you may feel the steering effort increase. This is designed to prevent damage to the steering gear caused by overheating. The same condition may occur if the steering wheel is turned fully to the left or right and held in that position.

The following symbol is shown on the multi-information display:«CHECK SYSTEM» (Проверьте систему).This may be accompanied by the message "CHECK SYSTEM."
