Injector Inspection

INJECTOR OPERATION CHECK

Using the HI-SCAN (Pro) tester:

• Activate the injectors one after another.

• Check the injector opening signal duration.

INJECTOR OPERATING SOUND CHECK

1. Using a stethoscope, check the injector operation (presence of characteristic clicking sounds) while the engine is running at idle.

Check that the injector operating frequency also increases as the engine speed increases.

Do not confuse the operating sound of the injector being checked with the sound of an adjacent injector transmitted through the fuel rail, especially if the injector being checked is not operating.

2. If a stethoscope is not available, check the injector operation by touch with a finger.

If no vibration from injector operation is felt, check the wiring harness connector, the injector, or the control pulse from the engine control module.

RESISTANCE CHECK BETWEEN TERMINALS (INJECTOR SOLENOID VALVE COIL RESISTANCE)

1. Disconnect the connector of the injector being checked and measure the resistance between the connector terminals.

Nominal value: 15.9 ± 0.35 Ω at 20 °C. 2. Reconnect the injector connector securely.
