DTC Troubleshooting - P1510/P1552/P1515/P1516

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
The Idle Speed Actuator (ISA) is a motor with two windings, which are energized by separate control circuits of the ECM. Depending on the pulse duty factor, the difference in magnetic forces of the two windings acts in different directions on the magnetic forces of both windings, which changes the position of the actuator (and therefore the opening of the bypass passage). The bypass passage is located in the throttle body parallel to the throttle bore, where the idle speed actuator is installed.
DTC SET CONDITIONS
The ECM will store the DTC and illuminate the MIL if, during two driving cycles, a short to battery voltage occurs in the control circuit of the idle speed control (ISC) servo valve open coil [for P1510] or in the control circuit of the ISC servo valve close coil [for P1552].
