Idle Speed Control Actuator (ISA)

IDLE SPEED CONTROL ACTUATOR (ISA)
The idle speed control actuator is a motor with two windings, which are energized by separate control circuits of the engine control module. Depending on the pulse duty factor, the difference in magnetic forces of the two windings rotates the motor shaft through a certain angle, thereby changing the flow area of the bypass passage. The bypass passage is located in the throttle body parallel to the throttle bore, at the location where the idle speed control actuator is installed.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS: An open or short circuit in the idle speed control actuator circuit may be detected immediately after the ignition is switched on.

IDLE SPEED CONTROL ACTUATOR INSPECTION: RESISTANCE MEASUREMENT BETWEEN CONNECTOR TERMINALS (WINDING RESISTANCE)
1. Disconnect the idle speed control actuator connector.
2. Measure the resistance between the terminals.
Nominal value: Terminals 1 and 2: 10.5 - 14.0 Ω; Terminals 2 and 3: 10.0 - 12.5 Ω (at 20 °C). 3. Reconnect the idle speed control actuator connector securely.
