Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Troubleshooting - DTC P0110/P0112/P0113

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
The Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is built into the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. The sensor is a resistor that changes its resistance depending on the temperature of the air entering the intake manifold. Based on the sensor signal, the Engine Control Module (ECM) adjusts the fuel injector pulse width (basic fuel injector open time). If the measured air temperature is low, the ECM enriches the air-fuel mixture by increasing the injector pulse width. If the measured air temperature is high, the ECM decreases the injector pulse width.
DTC SET CONDITIONS
The ECM will store DTC P0112 and illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) if the IAT sensor indicates a temperature below −49 °C for 0.2 seconds during two driving cycles. This check is performed 4 minutes 10 seconds after engine start, when the engine has been running at idle for 30 seconds (no fuel cut-off during coasting downhill). This code indicates that the temperature measured by the IAT sensor or the ECM is lower than expected after engine warm-up.
