DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

Refer to the corresponding procedure for DTC P0130 and P0136.

DTC SET CONDITIONS

[For DTC P0133] The engine control module will store DTC P0133 and illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) if, for two driving cycles, the engine control module does not detect the following conditions:

1. Within a period of 2 minutes or less, the engine control module must detect a fuel compensation factor greater than 85% or less than 95%.

2. The engine control module must perform air-fuel ratio correction (air/fuel ratio) under the following conditions:

• Engine speed is within the range of 1600 - 3200 rpm.

• Engine load (fuel injector control signal) is within the range of 1.35 – 3.4 msec.

• Catalytic converter temperature is above 372 °C. • The fuel injection system is operating in closed-loop air-fuel ratio control.

This code indicates that the air-fuel mixture is either not being regulated by the front oxygen sensor signal or the engine control module as expected, or is not being adjusted as often as expected once the engine is warm or the engine is operating under normal driving conditions.

[For DTC P0134] 3 minutes after engine start, the engine control module checks the front oxygen sensor.

If, for two driving cycles, the front oxygen sensor signal voltage does not stay within the range of 400 - 600 mV for 5 seconds, the engine control module will store DTC P0133 and illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). This code indicates no front oxygen sensor activity (signal) within the expected range once the engine is warm.
