The high-efficiency automatic transmission has 4(6*) forward gears and one reverse gear. Individual gears are selected automatically depending on the position of the gear shift lever.

* : if equipped

NOTE The first few gear changes in a new vehicle may be slightly harsh if the battery has been disconnected. This is normal, and the shift sequence will be adjusted by the TCM (Transmission Control Module) or PCM (Powertrain Control Module) after several driving cycles.

To ensure smooth operation when changing from N (Neutral) to a forward or reverse driving position, depress the brake pedal.

WARNING - Automatic Transmission
  • Before moving the vehicle into D (Drive) or R (Reverse), always check the area around the vehicle to make sure there are no people nearby, especially children.
  • Before leaving the driver's seat, always make sure the gear selector lever is in the P (Park) position, then fully apply the parking brake and switch off the engine. If these precautions are not observed in the cases listed above, the vehicle may move unexpectedly and suddenly.
CAUTION
  • To avoid damaging the transmission, do not increase engine speed with the R (Reverse) gear or any forward gear engaged while the brakes are applied.
  • If the vehicle has been stopped on an incline, do not hold it in place using the engine. Use the service brake or the parking brake.
  • If the engine is running at speeds above idle, do not move the gear selector lever from N (Neutral) or P (Park) to D (Drive) or R (Reverse).

Automatic transmission gear ranges

When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the indicators on the instrument panel show the position of the gear selector lever.

P (Park)

Always bring the vehicle to a complete stop before moving the gear selector lever to the P (Park) position.

This position locks the automatic transmission and prevents the front wheels from rotating.

WARNING
  • Moving the gear selector lever to P (Park) while the vehicle is still moving will lock the drive wheels and cause loss of vehicle control.
  • Do not use the P (Park) position instead of the parking brake. Always make sure the gear selector lever is in P (Park) and the parking brake is fully applied.
  • Never leave a child unattended in the vehicle.
CAUTION If the gear shift lever is moved to P (Park) while the vehicle is moving, the transmission may be damaged.

R (Reverse)

This lever position is used to drive the vehicle in reverse.

CAUTION If the gear shift lever is moved to R (Reverse), or moved from that position to another while the vehicle is still moving, the transmission may be damaged, unless the situation described in this section under "Rocking the Vehicle" applies.

N (Neutral)

The wheels and the transmission are not locked. The vehicle will roll freely even on the slightest incline unless the parking brake or the service brake is applied.

D (Drive)

This is the gear selector lever position for normal forward driving.

The transmission will automatically shift through a sequence of four gears, providing the most economical fuel consumption and power.

If extra power is needed when overtaking another vehicle or climbing a hill, press the accelerator pedal fully down. The transmission will automatically downshift by one gear.

CAUTION Always bring the vehicle to a complete stop before moving the lever to D (Drive).

Tryb sportowy

Sport mode

While stationary or driving, you can activate sport mode by moving the gear selector lever from D (Drive) into the manual gate. To return to D (Drive), push the lever back into the main gate.

In sport mode, moving the gear selector lever forward or backward allows quick gear changes. Unlike a mechanical gear lever, gears are changed with the accelerator pedal pressed.

Up (+): Push the lever forward once to upshift by one gear.

Down (-): Pull the lever back once to downshift by one gear.

NOTE

  • In sport mode, the driver must upshift according to road conditions, making sure the tachometer does not enter the red zone.
  • In sport mode, only 6 forward gears can be selected.

To park or reverse the vehicle, move the gear selector lever to R (Reverse) or P (Park), as required.

  • In sport mode, when the vehicle decelerates, gears are downshifted automatically. After the vehicle stops, first gear (1) is selected automatically.
  • In sport mode, when the tachometer needle approaches the red zone, the system automatically begins upshifting.
  • To ensure the required level of safety and vehicle performance, the system may not perform a gear change in some situations when shifting with the lever.
  • When driving on slippery road surfaces, move the gear selector lever forward to the + (up) position. The transmission will shift to second gear (2), which is more suitable for driving on slippery surfaces.
  • Move the gear shift lever to the - (down) position to return to 1st gear (1.).

    Shift lock system (if equipped)

For the safety of the vehicle user, the automatic transmission is equipped with a shift lock system that prevents shifting out of the P (Park) position unless the brake pedal is pressed.

To shift the transmission out of the P (Park) position:

    1. Press and hold the brake pedal.
    2. Move the gear selector lever.

If the brake pedal is pressed and released alternately while the gear selector lever is in the P (Park) position, a clicking noise can be heard near the lever. This is normal.

WARNING Before and while moving the gear shift lever to P (Park), or when changing from that position to another, always depress the brake pedal fully to prevent unintended vehicle movement that could injure people inside or near the vehicle.
