Parking Brake
Adjustment
When properly adjusted, the parking brake lever should travel 4–7 clicks when pulled with moderate force. If it travels fewer clicks, the vehicle may not be fully released from the parking brake and the brake pads may be constantly contacting the brake discs or drums. If the lever travels more clicks, the parking brake may not hold the vehicle on a slope and it may roll.
PROCEDURE
1. To access the parking brake cable adjusting mechanism, remove the center console (refer to Subsection 11.24).
2. Loosen the locknut (upper nut) while holding the adjusting nut (lower nut) with a wrench. Turn the adjusting nut to obtain the required parking brake lever travel. Tighten the locknut.
3. Install the center console.
