Manual transmission: check oil level / change oil
Check the oil level in the manual/differential transmission every 60,000 km. Change the oil after 120,000 km.
Special tool required:
12 mm hex key for socket head bolts.
There is also a special oil service key for Fiat models, e.g. from Hazet, no. 3601-12.
Wear parts required:
Transmission oil "Tutela ZC 75 Synth" from Fiat, or another oil SAE 75W-90 EP to specification API GL-5 and MIL-L-2105D.
Manual transmission oil capacity: models with 1.2 / 1.4 L engine: 1.7 litres; all other engines: 2.0 litres.
Check oil level
Raise vehicle level on a jack.
If fitted, remove the engine undershield, see page 14.

Unscrew filler plug - 1 - on the transmission; the filler plug, 12 mm hex socket, is located on the front left side of the transmission.
- 2 - = Drain plug, engines from 1.6 i displacement, 12 mm hex socket.

The illustration shows the transmission oil drain plug on the model with 1.4 L engine.

When checking the oil level with a finger, check whether the oil reaches the lower edge of the filler hole.
Otherwise top up with transmission oil of the specified type.
An oil pump gun is required for this. When topping up, place a container underneath and let excess oil drain off. Do not add too much oil at once.
Tighten the oil filler plug to 50 N·m.
The tapered thread seals without additional gasket.
Change oil
Unscrew the oil filler and drain plugs and allow the oil to drain completely.
Install the oil drain plug. The tightening torque depends on the outer thread diameter of the oil drain plug. M16 thread (outer diameter 16 mm): 20 N·m; M22 thread (outer diameter 22 mm): 50 N·m. The tapered thread seals without additional gasket.
Fill with new “Tutela ZC 75 Synth” oil from Fiat. Fill quantity: 1.4 L engine: 1.7 liters; all others: 2.0 liters.
Tighten the filler plug to 50 N·m, lower the vehicle.
