Self-diagnosis function

1. Connect the HI-SCAN (Pro) tester to the data link connector (DLC).

2. Read the diagnostic trouble codes stored by the automatic transmission self-diagnosis system. Then repair the faults in accordance with the "DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE TABLE" on the following page.

● A maximum of 8 diagnostic trouble codes can be stored in the random access memory (RAM) of the electronic control unit (in order of occurrence).

● If the same diagnostic trouble code occurs repeatedly, it is stored only once.

● If the number of stored diagnostic trouble codes or diagnostic trouble patterns exceeds 8, the previously stored codes are erased from memory, starting with the oldest.

● Do not disconnect the battery before reading the diagnostic trouble codes or diagnostic trouble patterns, as they will be erased from the electronic control unit memory if the battery is disconnected.

3. If the system switches to fail-safe mode and the transmission is locked in 3rd gear (shifting disabled), a diagnostic trouble code for the fail-safe operating mode is stored in the random access memory (RAM) of the electronic control unit.

A total of three such fault codes can be stored.

4. If the transmission operates only in 3rd gear (shifting disabled) and the ignition key is turned to the "OFF" position, the fail-safe mode is cancelled, but the diagnostic trouble codes remain stored in the random access memory (RAM) of the electronic control unit.

5. Memorization of information in memory.

● A maximum of 8 diagnostic trouble codes and 3 fail-safe operating mode parameters can be stored in memory.

● If the memory capacity does not allow recording new information, new diagnostic trouble codes and fail-safe parameters will overwrite the stored ones, starting from the oldest.

● The same DTC cannot be stored in memory more than once.

6. Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

a) Automatic Deletion

All diagnostic trouble codes are automatically deleted from memory after the ATF temperature reaches 50°C 200 times after the last DTC was stored in memory.

b) Forced Deletion

Stored diagnostic trouble codes can be deleted using the scan tool if the following conditions are met:

● Ignition switch in the "ON" position.

● No signals (pulses) are detected from the crankshaft position sensor.

● No signals (pulses) are detected from the transaxle output shaft speed sensor.

● No signals (pulses) are detected from the vehicle speed sensor.

● Fail-safe mode is not activated.
