Ignition Key Lock Device Installation

The ignition key may not be removable from the ignition lock cylinder due to incorrect installation of the ignition key lock cable. To prevent this, follow the instructions below when performing service.

1. Assemble the ignition switch and the ignition key lock cable.

a. With the steering column lock assembly installed on the steering column, set the ignition lock cylinder to the "LOCK" position.

b. Connect the ignition key lock cable to the ignition switch and secure it with the set screw.

2. Assemble the ignition key lock cable and the A/T selector lever.

a. Set the A/T selector lever to the "P" position.

b. Connect the ignition key lock cable as shown in Figure 7, then temporarily secure the cable outer casing with the nut (M8) so that the outer casing adjusting plate can be moved by pulling the cable.

c. While holding the ignition key lock cable end and the outer casing adjusting plate, move them in the direction indicated by arrows "F" so that there is no bend or slack in the cable at section "B".

NOTE

Do not pull the cable in the direction indicated by arrow "X" to remove cable slack. This may result in the ignition key being unable to be removed from the ignition lock cylinder.

d. Tighten the nut (M8) securing the ignition key lock cable.
