GENERAL INFORMATION
Puddles under the vehicle, fluid traces under the hood or on components on the underside of the vehicle indicate a leak that must be located and repaired. Sometimes the leak source is very difficult to identify, especially if the engine compartment and engine are covered with dirt. Oil or fluid drips on the underside of the vehicle may be carried rearward by airflow while driving, which can be misleading as to the actual leak location.
Oil Pan
Oil may leak from the oil pan drain plug.

Oil Filter Leak
Oil may leak from around the oil filter.

Transmission
Transmission fluid may leak from the axle shaft seals where they exit the differential boot.

Coolant
A coolant leak can often be identified by crystalline deposits like these.

Brake Fluid
A brake fluid leak leaves traces on the tire.

Power Steering Fluid
Power steering fluid may leak from the fittings of the power steering hydraulic system.
