Ignition Lock with Anti-Theft Device

Gasoline engine "START" position – starter motor engages. Before starting the engine, move the automatic transmission selector lever to "P" or "N"; on a manual transmission, shift to neutral and keep the clutch pedal depressed. Release the key immediately after the engine starts. The key returns to the "ON" position. Do not operate the starter motor for more than 15 seconds. "ON" position – engine and all electrical consumers are switched on.

This is the normal driving position of the ignition switch. Do not leave the key in the "ON" position when the engine is not running. Otherwise the battery will discharge and the ignition system may malfunction.

"ACC" position – electrical accessories such as the radio operate, but the engine is switched off.

"LOCK" position – the steering wheel is locked. The key can only be removed in this position.

To turn the ignition key from the "ACC" position to the "LOCK" position, push the key in first. If the key sticks in the "LOCK" position when starting the engine, check that the key is fully inserted. Then turn the key carefully while turning the steering wheel left and right. Do not push, turn to the "ACC" position, or remove the key while the vehicle is moving, as these actions lock the steering wheel and make the vehicle impossible to steer. If it is necessary to switch off the engine while the vehicle is moving, turn the key only as far as the "ACC" position. Never push or remove the key.

Diesel engine: The "ON" position is used to energize the glow plugs and preheat the engine. After the engine starts, the key returns to this position and all electrical consumers are operational.

When the key is turned to the "ON" position, the glow plug indicator lamp illuminates. The lamp goes out when the glow plugs have heated the engine sufficiently for it to start. This is the normal driving position of the ignition switch. To prevent battery discharge, do not leave the key in the "ON" position when the engine is not running.

"START" position – the starter motor engages.

Before starting the engine, move the shift lever to neutral and depress the clutch pedal. Release the key immediately after the engine starts. The key returns to the "ON" position. Do not operate the starter motor for more than 30 seconds.

"ACC" position – electrical accessories such as the radio are operational, but the engine is switched off.

"LOCK" – the steering wheel is locked. The key can only be removed in this position.
