The rear final drive of the all-wheel-drive Audi 80 is filled with 1.3 L of SAE 90 viscosity transmission oil with API GL 5 quality specification. Oil replacement is not specified; however, checking the oil level is required. A rear final drive housing soiled with oil is a warning sign. In this case, unscrew the level check plug to verify that the oil level is still at the lower edge of the filler opening. Otherwise, add oil.
