Zero oil consumption is suspicious
During winter operation on short trips, it may happen that the oil level does not decrease between measurements or even rises. This is by no means a reason for joy, because it means the engine oil is being diluted by fuel or condensation. This oil, which is changing its properties, must be "boiled out" during regular long trips so that the condensation evaporates. At the end of the trip, check the oil level, because it will drop noticeably due to evaporation of fuel and condensation components! Under extreme city operation without intermediate long trips, it is better to change the oil earlier than usual, possibly after 3000 km or four months.
In winter, allow for about 2–3 % fuel contamination in the oil. Thanks to the more precisely metered mixture enrichment in our injection engines, less fuel gets into the oil when a cold engine is started than in older carburetor engines.
