Special key used to remove the radio from the vehicle
The factory-installed radio is equipped with a sliding bracket that allows it to be removed and installed quickly. A special sliding clip is required for this, which is included in the delivery set or can be purchased separately. Two tools 3344 are required to remove the factory-installed radio.
Radios are supplied with an anti-theft code as standard. The code prevents unauthorized operation of the radio if its power supply has been interrupted. Power to the radio is interrupted, for example, when it is removed, when the battery is disconnected, or when a fuse blows.
If the radio is coded, the code must be determined before disconnecting the battery or removing the radio. The individual code is given in the radio owner's manual. Do not store it in the vehicle.
If the code is unknown, only an AUDI dealership can activate the radio. REMOVAL
PROCEDURE
1. Switch off the ignition.
2. Disconnect the negative (–) battery cable with the ignition switched off.
CAUTION
As a result, information in the electronic memory modules, such as the radio code, will be erased. Without the code, the radio can only be activated by the manufacturer or an AUDI dealership. Therefore, refer to the section Entering the Radio Code.
3. Insert the release keys into the slots (arrows) until they engage. The marking "Top L" points up and to the left, "Top R" points up and to the right.
4. Remove the radio from the instrument panel by the lugs.
CAUTION
Do not tilt the radio or the release tool while removing it.5. Disconnect the radio's plug connectors and antenna. Disconnect the power supply connector. If the radio is connected without using standard plug connectors, label the cables so they are not confused during installation. INSTALLATION
PROCEDURE
1. Remove both cable ties from the radio.
2. Connect the plug connectors on the rear of the radio.
3. Push the radio into the instrument panel until the retaining springs engage.
4. Connect the negative (–) battery cable.
CAUTION
Activate the automatic high-position function of the electric window regulator, and set the clock and enter the radio code. Refer to the subsection Entering the radio code.5. Switch on the radio and check its operation. If the radio is installed with anti-theft coding, first enter the secret code.
Recommendations for Self-Installation of the Radio
– For a radio that does not match the vehicle's standard radio, a suitable adapter cable is available.
CAUTION
If the adapter cable is not used, make sureCAUTION
that there is no uninsulated cable nearby. A short circuit may cause the cable to catch fire.– Make sure that only approved interference suppression components (with approval for use) are used. Special components approved for use in AUDI vehicles, with installation instructions, are available on the market. – When connecting the speed signal wiring (for a radio with the GALA function = radio volume adaptation according to speed), be sure to prevent a short circuit, as otherwise malfunctions may occur in the vehicle, for example in the engine management system. Connecting the speed signal to a third-party radio may also cause malfunctions.
