Checking the Brake Light Switch

CHECKING

1. If the brake lights do not illuminate, first check the fuse in the fuse box.
2. If the fuse is good, check the brake light bulb. Replace the bulb if necessary.
3. Check the brake light switch. To do this, remove the cover under the pedal. Refer to the accompanying illustration. Disconnect the brake light switch connector.

4. Turn the ignition on.
5. Using a jumper wire, connect both contacts in the brake light switch connector. If the brake lights now illuminate, the switch is faulty. Replace it.
6. If the brake lights do not illuminate, check the lamp module.
