Switch Removal and Installation

PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. The battery is located in the luggage compartment behind the right side trim.

* Disconnecting the battery erases data in electronic control module memory, such as engine fault memory. Refer to the battery removal and installation section for guidance.

Example: Hazard warning switch

2. Remove the gear shift lever boot cover upward.
3. Push the damping insert aside.
4. Through the opening in the center console, push the switch out from below.
5. Disconnect the connector.

Example: Seat heater switch.

6. Remove the heater/air conditioning control unit; refer to Heater or Air Conditioning Control Unit Removal and Installation. Through the opening in the center console, push the switch out from below.
7. Disconnect the connector. Press the lock with your fingers. Refer to the accompanying illustration.

Example: Light switch.

8. Remove the knob (1) from the light switch.

9. Remove the instrument panel bezel. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Removal and Installation.
10. Remove the nut (4) from the switch shaft.
11. Remove the diaphragm (2).
12. Disconnect the electrical connector.
13. Push the headlight switch (3) out of the bezel from the front.
14. Install the switch in the reverse order of removal.
15. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery. Set the clock. Program the radio stations.
