Central Locking Remote Control Initialization

The central locking remote control must be initialized if the batteries in the key have been replaced and the replacement took more than 1 min, or if a button was pressed during replacement. To replace the batteries, refer to the appropriate section in the Maintenance and Care chapter.

PROCEDURE

1. Sit in the vehicle and close the driver's door.
2. Turn the ignition key in the steering column lock briefly to position 1 (no longer than 5 s) and then turn it back.
3. Remove the ignition key, press and hold button (2). Press button (1) three times (within 10 s). Keep button (2) pressed.

4. Release button (2).
5. To check the initialization, operate the central locking motors twice from the control module.
