Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light

ENGINE OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT
Comes on briefly when the ignition is switched on before the engine is started.
This indicates that the indicator lamp is working normally.
The light should go off after the engine starts.
If this warning light comes on while driving, it may indicate a dangerous drop in engine oil pressure.
Stop the engine immediately and check the engine oil level.
For inspection procedures, refer to "ENGINE OIL LEVEL CHECK".
Low engine oil pressure may be dangerous.
• Do not operate the vehicle with the engine oil pressure warning light on.
Driving with low oil pressure may cause serious damage to the vehicle and subsequent costly repairs not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
If the oil level is low, add engine oil of the recommended quality and viscosity to the proper level. Refer to "ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT".
If the oil level is normal, contact an authorized Chevrolet dealer to inspect the engine lubrication system.
