Windshield Wipers - Automatic Rain-Sensing Mode

Automatic Rain-Sensing Mode*

The rain sensor measures the amount of water on the windshield and automatically adjusts the operation of the wipers.

To activate the automatic wiper mode, move the windshield wiper/washer lever to the "AUTO" position.

The sensitivity of this system is adjusted with the adjustment ring.

• To decrease sensitivity: turn the adjustment ring down.
• To increase sensitivity: turn the adjustment ring up.

To deactivate the automatic wiper mode, move the windshield wiper/washer lever to the "OFF" position.

The wipers will operate one cycle in the following cases:

• When the ignition is switched on while the windshield wiper/washer lever is in the "AUTO" position.
• After the ignition is switched on, when the windshield wiper/washer lever is moved to the "AUTO" position.

The wipers operate for 5 minutes if the windshield wiper/washer lever is left in the "AUTO" position after the rain has stopped, and stop operating after 5 minutes.

The wipers operate one cycle in the rain if the sensitivity control is set one level up from the lowest sensitivity, but will not operate if there is no rain.

In an automatic car wash, turn off the wipers and disable the automatic rain sensor mode.

To ensure proper operation of the rain sensor, the sensor operating area must be free of dust and dirt, and the wiper system must be operated at regular intervals. Vehicles equipped with a rain sensor can be identified by the sensor operating area in the upper part of the windshield.
