Remove and install knock sensor
The knock sensor is mounted on the engine block between cylinders 2 and 3. The 2.0-i engine has 2 knock sensors: one is located between cylinders 1 and 2, the other between cylinders 4 and 5. The sensor enables the engine control unit to detect and prevent damaging knock combustion.
Removal
Disconnect the sensor connector. The sensor is located at the rear of the engine block, in the area of the alternator. Unscrew the sensor.
Carefully clean the mating surfaces of the engine block and knock sensor.
Tighten the knock sensor to 20 N·m. Note: observe the torque exactly, as it is important for correct sensor function. Keep the threads extremely clean when installing. Do not install additional washers.
Connect the cable connector.
