Adjusting the clutch

~1min read
Cable operation

There is no noticeable clutch play at the clutch pedal.

As the clutch linings wear, the clutch pedal moves upward, toward the driver. The pedal must therefore be adjusted during regular maintenance.

Adjusting
  • Depress the clutch pedal several times so that the cable settles into the correct position.

  • Measure the clutch pedal travel. To do this, place a measuring rule and measure the distance between the depressed - 1 - and released pedal - 2 -.

Nominal value x: 170 ± 10 mm; 1.4 L engine only: 155 ± 10 mm.

Note: There must be no additional floor mat under the pedal, otherwise the pedal travel will be too short. 1.4 L engine:

  • To adjust, where fitted, loosen the locknut - 1 - (see fig. T-2822) on the threaded piece of the clutch cable in the engine compartment. Turn the adjusting nut - 2 - on the clutch cable until the nominal value is reached.

  • Where fitted, secure the adjusting screw with the locknut.
