Replacing the windshield wiper blade insert for the front windshield
Replace the wiper blade inserts if the wiping pattern is poor. Complete wiper blades (insert with carrier) as well as individual wiper inserts are available from the parts trade. If only the insert is replaced, make sure the carrier is not bent.

The wiper insert is held by 2 metal retaining strips - 1 - which must be removed individually for removal.
Removal Caution: Remove the ignition key before working on the wiper system. Movement of the wiper arm or wiper linkage can activate the automatic park function when the ignition is in position "1". This means the wiper will start running until it reaches its end position. Risk of injury!Flip the wiper blade up until it locks.
Position the wiper blade at a right angle to the wiper arm.

Press down the spring clip - a - and slide the wiper blade down out of the hook on the wiper arm.
Slide the wiper blade upward and remove it from the hook of the wiper arm through opening - b -.

Squeeze both steel strips - 1 - together on the closed side of the wiper insert (use combination pliers if necessary), remove them laterally from the upper clip - 2 -, and pull the insert with the strips completely out of the remaining clips of the wiper blade.
Loosely insert the new wiper insert without retaining strips into one clip of the wiper blade.

Insert both strips into the wiper insert so that the cutouts in the strips face the insert and engage the rubber lugs of the groove.
Squeeze both steel strips and the insert together (with combination pliers) and insert them into the other clip so that the clip lugs engage the retaining grooves of the wiper insert on both sides.
Slide the wiper blade over the wiper arm and clip the spring clip into the hook of the wiper arm.
Fold the wiper arm back down. Make sure the wiper insert rests against the windshield along its entire length.
