Seat Belts

* Later models are equipped with pyrotechnic seat belt pretensioners. Do not attempt to remove the seat belt pretensioner assembly, if equipped. Injury may result if the correct removal procedure is not followed exactly. Refer all seat belt removal and installation work to an authorized service station.

Inspection

PROCEDURE
1. Inspect the seat belts, buckles, buckle tongues and guide loops for any signs of damage or wear.
2. Make sure the seat belt warning light illuminates when the ignition key is turned on.
3. Seat belts are designed to lock during sudden stops or impact, and at the same time allow free movement under normal driving conditions. Retractors must hold the belt against your chest while driving and retract the belt when the buckle is released.
4. If the inspection reveals any faults in the seat belt system, replace all necessary parts by contacting an authorized service station.
