Back Door (Station Wagon Models)

* The back door is quite heavy, so it is difficult to remove and install. At least two people are required to perform these procedures.

Removal

PROCEDURE
1. Open the back door and cover the cargo area edges with cloths to protect the painted surfaces from damage during back door removal.
2. Disconnect any cables or wiring connectors that may interfere with removal.

3. Use a marker to make alignment marks around the hinge mounting flanges before unscrewing the bolts.
4. Have your assistant support the back door. Disconnect the support struts (see Subsection 11.11).
5. With an assistant supporting the back door, unscrew the bolts securing the back door to the hinges on both sides and remove the back door.

Installation and Adjustment

PROCEDURE
1. Installation is performed in the reverse order.

* When installing the back door, align the hinges with the marks made during removal.

2. After installation, close the back door and make sure it is properly aligned with the surrounding panels.
3. Back door alignment is adjusted by loosening the back door hinge bolts or nuts and slightly moving the back door.

4. The back door latch position can be adjusted by loosening the adjusting bolts and moving the latch. The latch striker can be adjusted by loosening the mounting bolts and lightly tapping it with a plastic hammer.
