Cylinder Head Installation
PROCEDURE
1. Install a new cylinder head gasket on the cylinder block. Make sure that the front side of the gasket is aligned with the front side of the engine. Both dowel pins must pass through the gasket.
2. Make sure the dowel pin on the end of the camshaft is at the top, and install the cylinder head onto the cylinder block so that the dowel pins engage.
3. Apply engine oil to the threads and underside of the cylinder head bolt heads, and install the bolts into the holes.
4. Tighten the cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown in the figure, in reverse order. Tighten the cylinder head bolts in three steps before the final torque 84 N·m.
5. Install the cylinder head cover gasket and install the cover (valve clearances must already be adjusted). Apply sealant to the mating surface on the left and right of the camshaft flange at the front, and in the middle on the left and right of the camshaft. The cover is secured with six washers and nuts. Tighten the nuts to the torque 7 N·m.
6. Install the timing belt center cover, then install all removed timing drive components as previously described.
7. Perform the remaining work in reverse order. The following hoses must be connected: the fuel return hose to the fuel pump, the two water hoses to the cylinder head, and the two fuel hoses to the high-pressure fuel pump.
