The Volvo S80 (2nd generation, 2013–2016) offers flexible ways to adjust the rear seats and head restraints to ensure comfort and safety. The backrests can be folded down in sections, which enlarges the cargo area as needed. The center head restraint can also be individually adjusted to the occupant's size to optimally protect the neck area. Particular attention should be paid to correctly using the power and manual functions for folding down the outer head restraints. This section provides important information on handling, to improve rearward visibility and ensure that all components lock securely when returned to position.

The rear seat backrest and the outer head restraints can be folded down. The center rear head restraint can be adjusted to suit the occupant's size.

Fold down rear seat backrest

IMPORTANT

Before folding down the backrest, make sure no objects are lying in the rear seat area.

The seat belts must also not be fastened. Otherwise, the rear seat upholstery may be damaged.

The backrest is split in two. The sections can be folded forward together or individually.

  1. Pull on the handle(s).
  2. Fold the backrest forward.

    Lower the center head restraint fully if the wide section of the backrest is to be folded down.

WARNING

After raising the backrest and head restraint, check that they are properly locked in place to avoid injuries in the event of hard braking or an accident.

Center rear seat head restraint

Adjust the head restraint to the occupant's height. The upper edge of the head restraint should be aligned with the center of the back of the head. Push the head restraint upward as desired.

Press the button on the left pillar and at the same time gently press the head restraint down to return it to its lowest position.

Fold rear outer head restraint electrically*

  1. The transponder key must be in key position II.
  2. Press the button to fold down the rear outer head restraints and improve rearward visibility.
WARNING

Do not fold down the head restraints of the outer seats when people are sitting in those seats.

Move the head restraint back manually until a click is heard.

WARNING After raising, the head restraints must be locked in place.
