The heated steering wheel of the Volvo S80 (2nd generation, 2013–2016) provides additional comfort on cold days and switches on automatically at low temperatures if the function is set accordingly. This section describes how to switch the heating on and off manually and which conditions apply to automatic operation. The switch panel for exterior and interior lighting is also presented in detail. Drivers receive useful tips on adjusting display and ambient lighting, as well as on using headlight levelling to ensure optimal illumination under different loading conditions.

Volvo recommends the mode when the vehicle is being driven.

WARNING

The vehicle's lighting system cannot decide in all situations whether daylight is sufficient, e.g. in fog or rain.

The driver is always responsible for driving the vehicle with lighting that ensures road safety and in accordance with applicable traffic regulations.

Instrument lighting

Depending on the key position, the display and instrument lighting switches on, see Key positions - functions at different levels.

The display lighting is automatically dimmed in darkness. The sensitivity is adjusted with the thumb wheel.

The intensity of the instrument lighting is adjusted with the thumb wheel.

Headlight levelling

When the vehicle is loaded, the height setting of the headlight beam changes, which can dazzle oncoming traffic. Adjust the light height to prevent this. When the vehicle is heavily loaded, reduce the headlight range.

  1. Leave the engine running or leave the vehicle's electrical system in key position I.
  2. To increase or decrease the headlight range, turn the thumb wheel up or down.
