Bleeding the Brake System

~1min read
Прокачка тормозной системы в переднем суппорте дискового тормозного механизма:

Bleeding the brake system in the front brake caliper: the bleeder screw (1) is opened with a 7 mm wrench. A clear hose (2) is fitted to the bleeder screw, with its end placed in a prepared container (3).

Brake system bleeding is necessary after repair of the brake hydraulic system, when air has entered the brake cylinder or lines:

PROCEDURE

Fill the master cylinder reservoir with new brake fluid. During bleeding, monitor that the fluid is topped up to the specified level in time. Otherwise, air will again enter the system.

Remove the dust cap from the bleeder screw (sequence: rear right; rear left; front right; front left).

Fit a clear hose (for example, a washer hose) onto the thoroughly cleaned bleeder screw and place its free end into a container partially filled with brake fluid.

Ask an assistant to build up pressure in the system by depressing the brake pedal.

Open the bleeder screw on the corresponding wheel by approximately 1 to 1.5 turns and release the pressure. The assistant meanwhile presses and releases the pedal with the foot.

Close the bleeder screw again and build up pressure.

Open the bleeder screw as before.

Repeat this process until no more air bubbles are visible in the hose. (If the hydraulic system is largely empty, bleed twice.) In this way, brake fluid and, of course, air are bled through the bleeder screw.

If no more air bubbles are visible, the assistant must keep the brake pedal fully depressed while you close the bleeder screw. Tighten carefully, otherwise the thread may be stripped!
Bleed the brakes of the other wheels in the same way.
