Removing the front disc brake caliper

Two-piston floating-caliper disc brake, 6-cylinder models
1 – brake caliper body;
2 – brake piston;
3 – brake pads;
4 – lower guide;
5 – brake disc;
6 – brake caliper bracket.

The caliper body (1) of the 4-cylinder model is swung upward after the lower mounting (4) has been removed. The pads (3) are still in the guides. The following are visible:
2 – heat shield in the brake piston;
5 – brake disc;
6 – brake caliper bracket.
Each front disc brake caliper is secured to the shock absorber strut by two so-called serrated bolts. These bolts have a serrated surface behind the hex head that prevents the bolt from loosening or falling out accidentally. These serrated bolts must never be replaced with ordinary bolts!
PROCEDURE
Remove the wheel.
Remove the brake pads.
Loosen the caliper mounting bolts.
Support the brake caliper with the hose still connected so that the hose is not stretched.
Or disconnect the brake hose or pipe.
Depress and hold the brake pedal to prevent brake fluid from leaking out.
Before installation, clean the serrated surfaces of the serrated bolts.
Tighten the serrated bolts to 125 N·m.
Reconnect the brake hose or pipe.
Bleed air from the brake system if the brake pipe or hose was disconnected.
