PROCEDURE

Press the brake pedal by hand.

Free play must not exceed 1/3 of the total pedal travel.

Longer free pedal travel indicates that the brake shoes are worn to minimum thickness and must be replaced.

Excessive pedal travel may also be caused by seized brake shoes or a seized wheel cylinder.

Air may have entered the brake system.
