Check brake fluid level/warning lamp
The brake fluid reservoir is located in the engine compartment. It has two chambers, one for each brake circuit. The screw cap has a vent hole that must not be blocked.
The reservoir is translucent so the brake fluid level can be monitored from outside at any time. In addition, a low fluid level is indicated by a warning lamp in the instrument cluster. Nevertheless, it is advisable to check the fluid level in the reservoir about every 4 weeks.

With the cap closed, the fluid level should be above the circumferential weld seam (arrow) between the upper and lower reservoir parts.
For topping up, use only new brake fluid meeting specification DOT 4 or “Tutela Top 4 270 C” from Fiat.
Brake fluid drops slightly as the brake pads wear. This is normal.
If the brake fluid level drops significantly within a short time, this indicates a brake fluid leak.
Have an assistant check the function of the warning lamp for low brake fluid level. To do this, press the reservoir cap with your thumb, see illustration. With the handbrake released and the ignition switched on, the warning lamp must then light up in the instrument panel. If it does not, check the warning lamp and the electrical wiring.
