Checking the engine oil level
The engine oil level should be checked and topped up if necessary approx. every 500 km. Over 1000 km a petrol engine should not consume more than 0.3 L, and a diesel engine not more than 0.8 L of oil.
Increased consumption is a sign of worn valve stem seals and/or piston rings, or seals on the crankshaft and camshaft or the oil pan.
The vehicle must stand on a level surface when measuring.
The engine must be at operating temperature.
After switching off the engine, wait at least 3 minutes so that the oil can drain back into the oil pan.
Pull the oil dipstick out of the engine and wipe it with a clean rag.

Then insert the dipstick fully as far as it will go and pull it out again.
The oil level must be between the two marks.
Only add new oil when the level approaches the lower mark. The quantity difference between the MIN and MAX marks on the dipstick is approx. 1 litre.
Top up at the cap on the cylinder head cover. When topping up, use the correct oil grade and do not use oil additives.
