Removal

  • Remove the tie rod end.

  • Remove the tie rod boot. Cut the hose clamps with side cutters and pull off the boot.

  • Turn the steering wheel fully so that the tie rod protrudes as far as possible from the steering gear.

Spurstange aus-und einbauen

  • Unscrew the ball stud from the rack, using an open-end wrench on the flatted area - 1 -.

Installation

  • Check the ball joint before installation and replace if necessary.

    The ball stud must not be too stiff. It must move freely in every direction, but must not move under its own weight.

  • Screw the ball stud onto the rack. Then stake the collar of the ball stud into the groove of the rack - arrow -.

  • Install the boot.

  • Install the tie rod end with a new self-locking nut.

  • Have the wheel alignment adjusted.
