Parking assist (acoustic) system
GENERAL INFORMATION
The parking assist system helps you park or maneuver the vehicle. However, the parking assist system also has technical limitations. Therefore, always pay attention when parking or maneuvering. When reversing, the parking assist system measures the distance to obstacles using ultrasonic sensors located in the rear bumper.
The parking assist system starts operating when reverse gear is engaged. This is confirmed by a brief warning tone.
The warning tone begins sounding when reversing, starting at 1.60 m from an obstacle. As the distance to the obstacle decreases, the pauses between the tone pulses become shorter.
A distance of less than 0.30 m means the vehicle is in the danger zone, and reversing must be stopped immediately. Being in the danger zone is indicated by a continuous warning tone.
CAUTION
The parking assist system cannot replace theCAUTION
driver. The driver is responsible for parking and similar maneuvers. There are “blind” zones in which the sensors do not detect objects.
Special
CAUTION
watch out for small children and animals, as they may not always be detected by the sensors. Objects such as a trailer hitch, thin painted poles, or fences may not be detected by the system under certain conditions and may cause damage to the vehicle.CAUTION
If the warning tone sounds for 5 seconds when the ignition is switched on, the system is faulty. Have the fault corrected at an Audi service station. To ensure the parking assist system functions properly, keep the sensors clean and free of ice.The parking assist system is deactivated when a trailer is connected.
